Giving our young people a glimpse into the world or work and some of the potential careers and opportunities open to them is really important.
So when a group of pupils from Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Thomas Hepburn Community Academy and Lingey House Primary School attended a 'Get in to Tech' event, it really opened their eyes to what they might do if they wanted a career in the growing technology sector.
The event was organised by the Council, Gateshead College and local employers as part of its new 'Work Inspiration Gateshead' programme, which aims to inspire, inform and prepare young people for further study and work.
Our young 'tecchies' took part in a range of activities from VR demostrations, 3D modelling, robotics and a green screen workshop, as well as getting advice and guidance from three leading local employers, digital construction specialists NBS, digital business network Digital Union and digital animation studio Kuro Dragon.
