Great British Bake Off fans don't have long to wait for the show to debut on Channel 4 and a Gateshead pub is marking the occasion

Yes, it's a how that has seldom been out of the headlines since its shock move to Channel 4, and now we'll be able to see for ourselves what it's like without Mel 7 sue and Mary Berry.
Its a new batch of contestants have now been unveiled and excitement is growing for its return to TV schedules.
And to celebrate a Gateshead pub is giving away free cake.
On Tuesday, August 29, the Valley Farm on Team Valley's First Avenue, which is part of the Farmhouse Inns collection of pubs, is offering a free slice of homemade cake to anyone who dines at the restaurant between 5pm and 7pm and says the code word, 'Great British cake-away' when ordering.
Lesley Anderson, general manager at Valley Farm, said: "We can't wait for the return of The Great British Bake Off, but everyone knows how difficult it can be to combat those cake cravings, so we want to help the people of Team Valley Trading Estate by offering them a free piece of delicious homemade cake to eat in, or cake-away and enjoy while they watch the show at home."
"With a dedicated team of expert cake-a-tiers baking fresh cakes on site every day, they really are our star bakers - no soggy bottoms here!"
Complimentary cake will be available on a first come first served basis to those who purchase a main meal and use the code word between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday.
