The music legend, famous for songs like You've Got A Friend In Me, has just released a new album Dark Matter and is heading out on a UK tour

Following the release of Dark Matter, his first album of new material in nine years, Randy Newman will be performing at Sage Gateshead as part of his European tour on Monday March 12.

The tour includes only three Uk shows - at Edinburgh's Usher Hall on March 8, Gateshead's Sage on March 12, and London's Palladium on March 14 - as well as performances in Germany and Ireland.

Newman began recording in 1968 with a self-titled album. Throughout the 1970s, he released several other acclaimed albums such as 12 songs, Sail Away, and Good Old Boys.

He began composing and scoring for films in the 1980s, and his work includes all three Toy Story pictures, A Bug's Life, and Cars 3.

Nonesuch Records released his new album Dark Matter, the follow-up to 2008's best-selling Harps and Angels, in early August to widespread critical acclaim.

In the words of the Daily Telegraph, 'Newman has made an album that is a match for anything in his canon. Both topical and timeless.'
