Meet the Gateshead flooring company that are aiming to make luxury affordable

Specialists in luxury vinyl tiles, carpets, and solid wood, Monument Flooring can help you inject style into your home without breaking the bank

Most homeowners will agree that wading through the ednless catalogues, websites and design options only adds to the headache of home decorating and renovation.

However a Gateshead flooring company is looking to bring simplicity and ease to choosing stunning flooring, without breaking the bank. Monument Flooring, a specialist in luxury vinyl tile, are about to embark on the latest chapter in their remarkable journey since forming the company in 2012.

With over 35 years experience in the commercial flooring business, managing director Trevor Duggan, joined by his two sons, Robert, 36, and Gary, 33, will be launching their new flooring showroom on Saltmeadows Road, Gateshead, Saturday July 29.

Since the company formed, both Trevor and younger son Gary have headed up the commercial side of the business, while Robert recently returned to the business to run the residential side of Monument Flooring.

A better design experience

The company, previously based a short distance away at Gear House, are planning to utilise the new showroom to showcase a variety of floor coverings, including carpet, luxury vinyl tile, solid woods, and laminate to name but a few.

Trevor explains their plans for the new two story space. He said: "Our new showroom will allow us to provide a much better experience for our customers coming in to choose their new flooring. When customers ask to see samples, most people will see samples books to get an idea on quality and colour of the particular type of flooring.

"We want to take that to the next level by showing them the laying patterns they can create with a versatile material such as Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), and show what the product looks like on the floor rather than just in a book."

The luxurious touch

Having worked with LVT ina variety of environments, Trevor's eldest son Robert saw an unique opportunity to utilise the flexibility of the material to create stunning laying patterns in customers homes.

He said: "LVT looks exactly like a hardwood floor when it's installed, but in true fact it costs a lot less and can be used to create some stunning effects. We even have ranges designed by Cath Kidston.

"People are often surprised when we show them examples of some of the work we've done. There really is no limit to what can be done with this material. We've been told that an LVT installation can sometimes look like flooring two or three times the cost. This is very rewarding knowing that we've not only left the customer with a stunning, completely unique flooring installation, but that it's cost them a fraction of what they thought it would."

If you're looking for a local, friendly flooring specialist, the team at Monument Flooring are ready to help you create beautifully original flooring within your home.
