The housing company will continue to support a number of breakfast clubs in Gateshead schools for at least another two years.

These clubs, which is ran by charity Greggs Foundation, ensures pupils receive breakfast at the start of their school day, helping them to learn and develop.
The Gateshead Housing Company began supporting three breakfast clubs, aimed at year 3 and 4 children, in 2015 at Brandling, Barley Mow and Parkhead Primary Schools.
Continuing to fund these clubs for a further two years will provide vital support to schools who have demonstrated that many of their students need it. Pupils have shown significant improvements in their daily interactions with peers and teachers as a result.
Positive feedback from teachers includes:
Improved punctuality and attendance of pupils
Improved behaviour and concentration of pupils
Improved relationships between teachers and parents
Involvement and Diversity Officer Helen Watson said: "Children need breakfast to help them concentrate in class and get the most out of school. Unfortunatley, some children wouldn't receive breakfast if they didn't attend a breakfast club.
"We recognise the negative impact not having breakfast can have on children, so we were keen to continue our support."
