Well, the challenge is now on with the launch of Bring Your Best Wine Nights at Newcastle Quayside restaurant Dobson & Parnell which is offering a prize to whomever impresses with their choice.
The new monthly event is a chance for diners to win a complimenary dinner for two at the top eatery.
Taking place on the first Wednesday of every month, the event invites customents to dig out their favourite bottle of wine and enjoy it for free with dinner which is served from 5.30pm. And the person who turns up with the best bottle of viino will bag the prize.
The restaurant in Queen Street, which is run by the Newcastle team behins Blackfriars, has an early evening á la carte set menu - offering three courses for £25 - which lasts until 7pm.
The prize on its Bring Your Best Wine Nights will go to the person who brings along the highest-value bottlw as decided by Vivino.
This is a wine-scanning app which is considered to be the gold-standard at reading and recognising labels and restaurant staff will be relying upon the app's verdict on their diners' bottle choices.
Intended to add an element of fun - and cost-saving - to a meal out, the restaurant will host Bring Your Best Wine Night on July 5, followed by August 2; September 6; October 4 and November 1.
